Northern Lights

Through Steampunk

Adjacent rather than core: a parallel Oxford of zeppelins, anbaric light and a church-run science. Its gyptian boats and armoured bears gave a generation of readers a gaslit fantasy.

Through Frostpunk

Adjacent: Lyra's journey to a Svalbard of armoured bears and an Arctic research station hiding a cruelty. The north as frontier of science and power.
