Neon Genesis Evangelion

Through Biopunk

The giant robots are really living beings in armour, and one pilot is a clone. Beneath the mecha shell lies a story about engineered bodies.

Through Psychopunk

A mecha show that turns inward until its final episodes take place almost entirely in the characters' psyches. Adjacent, and hugely influential.
